Funding Options for Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy Services

At Innerlink Therapy, we understand that navigating funding options for therapy services can feel overwhelming. We support families, individuals and organisations to access Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy services through a range of funding pathways, including NDIS funding, Medicare rebates, private health insurance and self-funded options.

NDIS

Innerlink Therapy is a registered NDIS provider in Sydney, offering Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy services for NDIS participants. Our experienced clinicians work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, support coordinators and other professionals to provide personalised therapy that aligns with each participant’s NDIS goals.

We accept all participants who are:

  • NDIA-managed – where service providers claim payments directly through the NDIS portal.
  • Plan-managed – where a registered plan manager processes payments on behalf of the participant.
  • Self-managed – where participants manage their own NDIS funding and make payments directly to providers.

Referrals

You can refer yourself or your child. However, a doctor’s referral is required for GP Chronic Condition Management plan Medicare Rebates and a paediatrician’s referral is required for  Neurodevelopmental Disorders Medicare rebates.

Medicare – What do I need to do?

  1. When booking your appointment, let us know you have a Medicare referral from your GP, doctor or Paediatrician.
  2. Send us a copy of your referral before your appointment (via email).

Medicare rebates for therapy

We accept the following GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP)

  • Occupational Therapy – 10958

Complex neurodevelopmental disorders and eligible disabilities

Speak with your doctor or paediatrician to arrange for your referral to access Medicare-funded Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy services.

Medicare M10 pathway funding

You may also be eligible for additional support through the Medicare M10 pathway.

How do I pay?

You will need to pay the full session fee on the day, and we will provide a receipt so you can claim your rebate from Medicare.

You will receive a rebate of $63.40 for Chronic Disease Management Plans or $89.50 for Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders items.

Private health insurance

In-Clinic Appointments

Please bring your private health insurance card to your appointment. We can process your claim on the spot, and you only pay the difference.

Telehealth

We are unable to process private health insurance claims for telepractice or online sessions. Instead, we will email your paid receipt so you can claim directly with your insurer.

Payment

Payment is required on the day of your appointment.

We accept:

A receipt will be emailed to you once payment has been processed.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my NDIS funding for speech pathology and occupational therapy?

Yes. Innerlink Therapy is a registered NDIS provider and accepts NDIA-managed, Plan-managed, and Self-managed participants. If your NDIS plan includes funding for therapeutic supports, you can use it for speech pathology and occupational therapy services to help achieve your NDIS goals.

Can I claim Medicare rebates for speech pathology or occupational therapy?

Yes, eligible clients may be able to access Medicare rebates through a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan or Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder referral. A valid referral from your GP or paediatrician is required before your appointment.

Can I claim my private health insurance for therapy sessions?

Yes. If your extras cover includes speech pathology or occupational therapy, we can process eligible in-clinic private health claims on the spot using our terminal, so you only pay the remaining gap. For telehealth appointments, we will provide a paid receipt that you can submit directly to your health fund. Coverage and rebate amounts vary between insurers.
